How to Write a Great Thank You Note

     Writing a thank you note is simple if you keep the purpose of the note in mind.  Acknowledging receipt of a gift is one of the key reasons for writing a note.  People that ship or mail gifts or money want to hear that the item reached you safely.  In addition, givers aren’t really concerned about what you plan to do with the gift they sent.  They simply want to know that you appreciate their thoughtfulness. 

     Keeping these thank you note principles in mind, below is a sample of a simple, yet effective thank you note for any gift you might receive. 

     Dear Jane,

                   Thank you so much for sending the gift [check, flowers, etc.] for my graduation [birthday, special occasion, etc].  It was kind of you to think of me on my special day.  I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

          Best Regards [Sincerely, Love, etc.],
